The music we like is mostly made up of our cultural background where we came from the kinds of music that played during our childhood. You could say the music we like is kind of like the language we speak. People who don't understand another language are a lot like people that haven't listened to enough of another kind of music to acquire and understanding and appreciation of it. The musical language I grew up with was r&b and my mother would also from time to time play a pop music radio station. As an adulthood I look at some of the people around me and see that their musical languages are of course r&b some of them speak a little jazz and that's about it.
 My radio career as made me different from most of the people I know when it comes to musical languages. Playing music on the radio as a DJ is kind of like going to school and learning them, like a university level. My radio career is responsible for me being fluent in a number of musical languages. I started out on the radio playing rock and roll, then went to a jazz station, next was disco, from there smooth jazz and r&b, a while at a black progressive station playing blues reggae jazz and r&b, and on to a hardcore r&b and rap station, finally back to the cool jazz and r&b until I retired. That's quite a list of musical languages.
 I don't expect people to like the music I make because it doesn't fit into one music category it's kind of like a gumbo of the music I've worked with. It doesn't particularly fit into any one kind. I also generally prefer instrumental music. I listen to vocal music when I want a singer to put thoughts in my head, and those are the kind of thoughts that I'm in the mood for. In my personal life I like my own thoughts, which is why I make instrumentals that I can think too. My thoughts span a very wide range, from atomic particles to the visible universe, and just about everything in between. 😃     ✌
